25 minutes to London Bridge by direct train. Blackfriars takes around 28 minutes, City Thameslink 30, Farringdon 32, and St Pancras International 36 — all on the same Thameslink corridor without changing trains. From these stations you can walk to the Tower of London, The Shard, Borough Market, Tate Modern, St Paul’s, Coal Drops Yard, and the British Library. South Croydon station is a 10–15 minute walk from the front door.

Up to 10 guests across six bedrooms spread over four floors. On the ground floor, a super-king bedroom and a single-bed bedroom (a former garage, now converted), with a shared sauna shower. On the second floor, two master bedrooms each with en-suite — one super-king and one queen. On the top floor, two further super-king bedrooms sharing the family bathroom with the jacuzzi tub. The first floor is the kitchen, living, and dining level — no bedrooms. Total bed mix: four super-kings, one queen, one single.

Yes — Gatwick is 17 minutes by direct train from South Croydon, on the same line that takes you north into central London. This makes Avondale unusually well-suited to international guests starting or ending a London trip at Gatwick.

Self check-in via a smart lock. We send you a unique code 24 hours before arrival, and the door is yours from 4pm on the day. Late arrivals are no problem — the code works around the clock. We’re reachable by phone if you’d rather check in with a person.

Avondale is a four-floor townhouse and the only access between floors is by stairs, so it isn’t suitable for guests with significant mobility limitations. The ground-floor bedroom and adjoining sauna shower are step-free from the front door, which works for one guest who’d rather not climb stairs — but the kitchen, living room, and remaining bedrooms are all on upper floors. Please be mindful of this before booking.

Yes. The driveway holds two cars comfortably, and unrestricted on-street parking is available immediately outside the house and along the surrounding residential roads.

The Tower of London (London Bridge, then 10-minute walk), The Shard and Borough Market (London Bridge), Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe (Blackfriars, 5-minute walk), St Paul’s Cathedral (City Thameslink), the British Museum and Covent Garden (Farringdon plus a short walk or tube), Coal Drops Yard and the British Library (St Pancras International). For Buckingham Palace and Westminster, take the bus to East Croydon and the train to Victoria, around 25 minutes total.

Yes — mindful pet owners are welcome. The first-floor garden terrace is private and enclosed but compact, so we’d recommend regular walks to Lloyd Park (1.4 miles, 6-minute drive) or Selsdon Wood Nature Reserve (3.5 miles, 10-minute drive) for proper outdoor time. Please keep dogs off bedroom beds.

Sainsbury’s South Croydon (5-minute drive) handles weekly groceries; Boxpark Croydon (7-minute drive) is the evening street-food venue; Surrey Street Market (8-minute drive) is London’s oldest open-air market, charter from 1276. The Whitgift Centre and Centrale Croydon (8-minute drive) cover larger shopping. There’s a good selection of restaurants and pubs within a 10-minute drive of the house.
